Jig fishing 1001.....

 "Bent on Catching Giants"

If you Bass fish, you can not afford to ignore what I am going to tell you right now because it not only works....It works better for giant Bass in open water than I ever expected. You don't need a boat, although if you're a pro with a boat your access to deep water on big lakes is unlimited and this technique should give you an unbelievable advantage both in the amount of water you cover and how heavy your bag is at the end of the day at the weigh-in. This technique is particularly effective in the southern half of the united states in the "Pre-spawn" winter months.

Over the years there have been thousands and thousands of fishing products created and introduced to Bass fishermen. Only a few have the potential to consistently draw strikes from big Bass.  In any situation, if I know the spot I'm fishing produces fish in excess of four pounds....No matter what the depth, no matter what the cover....I go to a jig.
My favorite any situation, "Go-to" deep water, heavy cover, wide open shallow or drop off, ledge, rock, standing timber/wood, sand, mud, weed edge, search bait is the jig."
In bedding season...I use a big scary intrusive jig, bluegill colors, at least a 1/2 ounce if not 3/4 because it requires the bass to be aggressive to remove it from the bed. I see guys all the time "Finesse" bed fishing, and it does pay off, but it takes a lot of time and they risk catching the male, the smaller bass. Why?
I try to scare off the male with aggressive intrusion, 9 times out of 10 it works and the female crushes my jig! nothing say's  "Get out boy, go get your wife I'm gonna eat your precious eggs," like a big scary jig and an intrusive jig/trailer presentation.
